Ingredients for Your Ultimate Bloody

ChiocesI have been known to be in charge of serving up Bloody Mary’s for my friends when we get together. There are many ingredients to choose from when you create your own but I tend to build and build and build upon flavors. I am a spicy kinda gal so I like to get mine to a level that makes you go “wow” not “ow” when served.

So, what do I gravitate towards? Here are some great choices to add to your Bloody Mary recipe.

The Standard Players

Tomato Juice, V8 or build upon a mix like Mr. and Mrs. T’s, Zing Zang’s or Tabasco.
***Be careful with Zing Zang as it tends to be really salty.

OR! Try this great mix and skip all of the work by buying Fat and Juicy. http://www.fatandjuicy.com/

Last But Not Least

After you have built your Bloody Mary and poured it over your cold glass, filled with ice and your favorite Vodka (Well Vodka is fine folks. No need to be fancy unless you go for a flavored Vodka like Citron or a Cilantro flavored)……. add a jigger of Guinness. Yes, I said Guinness. It adds a new layer of flavor and a smokey flavor. I cannot take credit for this one. This was courtesy of Lilli Mac’s in Sunnyvale. http://www.lillymacs.com/

The Supporting Cast

Rim the glass with Bacon Salt http://www.jdfoods.net/
Bacon Slice
Celery
Pickle
Pepporcini
Cocktail Onion
Bleu Cheese Stuffed Olives (Do not get the kind that is jarred in Olive Oil)

My recipe is always changing so stay tuned as I find more great ingredients. Like Jalapeno or Ghost Pepper Salt or Ancho Pepper Powder as found at the Spice and Tea Exchange of Maryland in Annapolis.

And if you are wondering about what happened to Horseradish….it was purposefully deleted. No need for it in ANY Bloody Mary. Seriously. This addition is usually the downfall of any Barkeep making a Bloody Mary. The overuse of the pungent root is a crime in the world of great Bloody Mary’s. Keep it where it belongs. When eating oysters or to clear your sinuses.

What are some of your favorite Bloody Mary ingredients/recipes?
